James Byarugaba
Executive DirectorMr. James Byarugaba is passionate about seeing children and young people live their lives to the full, and has committed the last 14 years to working with Youth Alive Uganda. He is skilled in project design, planning, implementation and business development.
He is a Man Up delegate — a global coalition of young people working to end sexual and gender-based violence — and is passionate about promoting gender equality and preventing SGBV.
His vision is a world where boys and girls, men and women have the same opportunities and are empowered to contribute equally in shaping the world they want. He holds a Master's in Human Rights from Makerere University, a Master's in International Development from the National University of Ireland-Maynooth, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Human and Social Services from Walden University, USA.
Adrian Kaleema
Director, Programmes and Business DevelopmentAdrian Kaleema serves as Director of Programs & Business Development. He believes that "each one should use whatever gift they have to serve others," and has dedicated the last 12 years to supporting youth in development work, including HIV, mental health, gender, livelihood, child protection and sexual reproductive health.
Over the years, Adrian has supported several civil society organizations and government departments to conduct local capacity development assessments, trainings and mentorships.
He holds a Master's degree in Development Studies, plus graduate qualifications in adult and community education, youth development work, social work and social administration.
Allan Dickson Otim
Director, Monitoring, Evaluation and LearningAn experienced Data Manager, Quality Assurance and M&E Specialist with over 15 years of demonstrated experience in M&E for development and post-war recovery programmes in non-profit organizations.
Allan is highly knowledgeable in M&E approaches across donor-funded programmes, including USAID, USDA, SIDA, the Mastercard Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with solid experience in knowledge management, big data and dashboards, and live Management Information Systems for tracking project performance.
The Makerere-trained economist has strong expertise in institutional system strengthening and participatory approaches to monitoring and evaluation, and is a trainer of trainers in M&E, QGIS, and data management and analysis.
Stella Nandawula
Finance and Operations DirectorStella Nandawula is an Accountant with over 8 years of hands-on professional experience in finance and operations management, currently serving as Finance and Operations Director at Youth Alive Uganda, where she is pivotal in driving the organization's financial strategies and operations.
Stella holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a focus on Accounting, complemented by a Master's in Business Administration, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
With a strong foundation in accounting principles and business administration, Stella excels in leading cross-functional teams, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards at every level.
Irene Amodo
Human Resource ManagerIrene Amodo is the Human Resource Manager at Youth Alive Uganda and a professional member of the Human Resource Managers' Association of Uganda (HRMAU) — an HR generalist with eight years of professional experience working with national and international NGOs.
Irene is people- and results-oriented, with a track record of developing and implementing HR policy, recruitment, staff training and development, benefits and compensation, performance management, and retention and exit management.
She is passionate about building strong team morale, and about anticipating future trends and translating them into workable strategies and plans.
Mary Immaculate Akiteng
Technical Program AdvisorA self-driven, results-oriented leader who believes in a team approach to achieving programme results, including networking and partnerships for justifiable development.
With over 10 years of progressive experience in fast-paced, results-oriented programming with local and international organizations, Mary holds a Master's Degree in Public Health from Uganda Martyrs University.
She has successfully managed projects focused on HIV/AIDS, youth health, child protection and sexual and reproductive health for OVCs, youth, teenage mothers and caregivers, with a particular passion for balancing healthcare delivery with economic empowerment.
Daniel Oyom
Partnership and Business Development AdvisorDaniel Oyom is the Partnerships and Business Development Advisor, with over 6 years' experience in resource mobilization, grants management, financial management, advocacy, organizational capacity building, managing partnerships, and strategic planning.
He analyses regional and national development trends, identifies key partners, and strategically positions Youth Alive Uganda within potential operational niches while growing the organization's pipeline of opportunities.
With a Master's Degree in Public Health and a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Daniel understands the growing need for collaboration and partnerships in an evolving funding landscape.
Jude Okongo
Chief of Party (USAID OVC NWA)Jude Okongo is Chief of Party for the USAID OVC Northwest Activity, a five-year Youth Alive Uganda project funded by PEPFAR/USAID that holistically empowers children, youth, adolescents and their caregivers to lead healthy, resilient and productive lives.
He has over 12 years' experience in project planning and management, grants management, stakeholder management, resource mobilization, and organizational capacity building for CBOs and private sector actors, with wide experience in health, nutrition, education, livelihood and social protection outcomes for vulnerable children and youth.
Jude favours applied learning and participatory training methodologies and data-driven decision making. He is an Acumen 2022 East Africa Leadership Fellow, a Master Trainer in participatory adult learning, and holds a Master's degree in Institutional Management and Leadership.
Nuliati Nansubuga
Risk & Compliance SpecialistNuliati Nansubuga is a Risk and Compliance Specialist at Youth Alive Uganda, with a diverse background in finance and experience supporting internal audit functions.
Her expertise lies in navigating the intricacies of systems and processes, allowing her to effectively assess and mitigate risk. She develops robust risk management strategies and ensures compliance with regulatory standards across departments including Project Implementation, Finance & Operations, Procurement & Logistics, MEAL, ICT Management and Human Resources.
Through collaborative work with stakeholders, she strives to foster a culture of transparency and accountability that empowers Youth Alive Uganda to achieve its vision, mission and core values.
